In this painting whimsical Hydrangea and Peony blossoms are complimented by the intricate design of “chinoiserie” inspired vases. These vases were traditionally given as wedding gifts and were said to bring happiness and prosperity. This eccentric pairing showcases two worlds colliding. As they each vie for the spotlight neither overcomes, but rather highlights the distinct details and differences of the other.
